‘New Year new me?’
‘2017 is going to be MY year’
I don’t know about the rest of you but I bloody hate January. It’s the month we vow to achieve everything we’ve ever dreamed of. Now, that’s great, but wowwww how much pressure is that we’re putting on ourselves? As well as being broke after the festive season, we suddenly become horribly inadequate too. Too fat, too skinny, not successful enough; especially compared to that girl on Instagram who I’m prettttyy sure is much younger than me.
This week I’ve found myself pushing myself to deal with so many things and then becoming frustrated and annoyed at myself when I feel like I can’t cope. How unreasonable is that? And what does it achieve? Nothing. We have to listen to ourselves and our bodies and sometimes just take a step back and reassess from a more realistic, less judgmental viewpoint. Today, I took a day to myself, went to my favourite art gallery and revisited hobbies I’d let slide, including writing, and OMG it feels good.
I wasn’t sure if I was going to share this initially, but maybe there’s someone out there that is in need of a lil Mid-January bitch slap back into reality too.
Not so much a well-constructed blog this one then, more a ‘thought post’ that I personally bloody needed to get out of my system. So together, let’s not get caught up in the BS and expectations and let’s just love ourselves at our own pace and share that with each other. If anyone wants to chat/needs a cyber cuddle drop me a message either on here or on my Instagram (@lucybennettmodel), I’d love to hear from you! And here’s to throwing more ramblings on here in 2k17!
